New Spielberg Comedy On Showtime

A Steven Spielberg backed half hour comedy written by Diablo Cody, the writer of the film “Juno,” has been given the go ahead by Showtime. The show, “The United States Of Tara,” is about a wife and mother who has multiple personalities and was developed from an original idea by Spielberg.

According to an article in Variety:

Toni Collette is set as Tara, while John Corbett plays her husband, Max. Cast also includes Portia Doubleday and Keir Gilchrist. Craig Gillespie directed the pilot.

“Tara” focuses on how the family — including the main character’s husband and two teenage children — copes with her various personalities.

Now I don’t know about you, but Spielberg might be on to something here.

Multiple personalities? Hmmm.

How about Hazel, the personality who thinks she’s a maid, and can’t stop hunting for the perfect furniture polish. Or Sara, who’s a drug fiend teenager and is always begging her kids to let her go out and hang with them. Or Desdemona who’s a sexaholic—you just know there’s going to be a personality that’s a sexaholic, this is Showtime after all. Or Kit who thinks she’s pregnant and has morning sickness all the time.

There’s no air date set for the show yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything.
