“Idol” Tonight: Battle Of The Davids
I knew it was coming. You knew it was coming. The Battle of the Davids on “American Idol.”
In this corner is 17 year old David Archuleta. He of the Junior Star Search crown, the sweet yet immature voice and the over the top stage Dad. The kid can sing, no one can deny that, but his stage presence and performing skills are amateurish. Maybe in five years he’ll be on the brink of becoming an entertainer, but right now, he’s a talented amateur hour performer.
And in this corner is 25 year old David Cook. He of the rocker dude ‘tude, the “someone get me a comb quick” hairstyle and the “I just want to be as successful as Chris Daughtry” ambition. The guy can sing, no one can deny that, but as a performer, he just doesn’t do anything for me.
Between the two of them, hands down, Cook should win, but America has fickle tastes where their Idols are concerned, so don’t be surprised if our new Idol has to wait ’til his next birthday to order a celebratory glass of champagne.
