Spike Lee To Make A Cellphone Movie
Spike Lee and Nokia are teaming up to make a movie. But it’s not just any kind of movie. It’s a short film that’s going to be made up of footage shot by everyday people with their cellphones. (No word yet on whether non-Nokia phone footage will be allowed.)
According to Reuters:
The film’s theme will evolve around the way music tells the story of humanity, and people can submit text, music, video or images at certain times between now and August 21 to here.
Nokia will choose 25 submissions, then people can vote online for their favorite for a top 10 from which Spike Lee will then choose the winning submission from each act.
I suppose it had to happen. I sense that Spike hasn’t been making enough noise in the movie biz these days so he decided to move his talents into the pioneering realm of new media. Who knows? It might be one of the smartest career moves he’s ever made.
