“American Idol:” The Match Game
Okay so last week I only got two predictions correct. That was that someone would sing, “Michelle” and someone else would sing, “Yesterday.” I was just wrong about who sang what. This week, let’s see if I can do better.
It was announced last week that this season’s mentors will include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond and Dolly Parton. So who will sing what? I don’t know the answer to that, and since my predictions last week were so lousy, I’m going to suggest some match ups just for fun.
- Kristy Lee Cook and Dolly’s “9 to 5.” A match made in heaven.
- David Archuleta and Webber’s “Music Of The Night.” A match made in hell.
- Carly Smithson and Webber’s “Memory.” A match that’s totally within her power to pull off beautifully.
- David Cook and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” A match he’ll love, but I’ll hate.
- Michael Johns and Diamond’s “America.” A match that could get him deported.
- Syesha and Mariah’s “Vision Of Love” A match that could get her dumped as soon as she ends the song, if she doesn’t blow the roof off.
- Chikezie and Mariah’s “Hero.” A match that should inspire Ryan Seacrest to dance around the stage again.
- Brooke White and Mariah’s “All In Your Mind.” A match designed to make Brooke sound less like Joni Mitchell.
- Ramiele Malubay and Dolly’s “Islands In The Stream.” A match designed to bore everyone on the planet.
- Jason Castro and Diamond’s “Cracklin Rosie.” A match that’s guaranteed to put me in hysterics.
Let’s see how I do this time.
