A One Hour “Saturday Night Live?”

Hell yes!

Finally, someone has put forth an idea whose time has come: a one hour “Saturday Night Live.”

Hallelujah!

It’s like someone proclaiming the emperor is buck naked, because the truth is “SNL” hasn’t been funny since the last century. And even then it was hit and miss. Part of the reason why? Every sketch is too blasted long.

Matthew Gilbert at Boston.com wrote “Saturday Night Long.” Here’s an excerpt:

That’s the “SNL” way: Take a little something, blow lots of air into it, and make it into a big nothing. Even the now-famous Hillary sketch, in which the press loved Obama so much more than Hillary, was too long, and then done in a slightly different version all over again the next week.

The most entertaining episode I’ve seen of “SNL” in the last ten years was Justin Timberlake’s Christmas show with the infamous gift giving short: “D*ck In A Box.”

True, some of the recent Hillary/Obama campaign sketches have been amusing, but since their Obama is so horrendous, the less time we see him on the screen, the better. Lorne Michaels? Are you listening?
