“Lost” Snap Recap: “The Other Woman” (3/6/08)
What did we learn in this Juliet flashback “Lost” episode? Quite a lot actually. The first thing? Ben is one sick puppy…as in sick puppy love. Or maybe twisted, sick puppy love.
Now we knew he was a murderer, a conniver, a master manipulator, but who knew he could fall in love just like everyone else. That is if you call what he felt after meeting Juliet, love. Unfortunately for Ben, after arriving on the island Juliet developed a thing for a very married man: the late great Goodwin. Ben didn’t like that one bit, so when Oceanic 815 crashed he used the opportunity to send Goodwin on what he hoped was exactly what it was, a mission that would get Goodwin out of his romantic way.
Back in the present, Daniel and Charlotte take off on some mystery mission without telling anyone and when Jack discovers they’re missing, he arranges a posse and takes off after ‘em. The Whisperers Of The Jungle return while Juliet’s on her own and the former Dharma shrink, Goodwin’s widow appears. I really wish I knew how they do that.
Anywary, she gives Juliet a message from Ben, namely, Juliet has to stop Daniel and Charlotte from killing everyone on the island with toxic gas. Before Juliet can say, “Dharma,” the shrink is gone. When Juliet eventually gets to Daniel and Charlotte, there’s fighting and mayhem and we discover they weren’t trying to poison the island, but trying to disable the gas so Ben wouldn’t ever be able to.
Other revelations? Ben talked a soft in the head Locke into letting him roam about freely after showing him a tape of Penny’s Dad beating up one of Ben’s people on the mainland. Ben says Penny’s Dad is The Evil One. In flashbacks, we discover Juliet has no clue how nuts Ben is until he takes her to see Goodwin’s dead body, right after Ana Lucia aerated his chest with a pole.
I sense more good stuff a comin’.
