Jean-Charles de Castelbajac showed his Spring 3001 collection (yes, he’s already designed that far ahead)  not with malnourished models , but with lego people! If that is not genius, I don’t know what is! Not only are the models lego people, but the audience is lego people, too! Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Tally are in the front row as lego people along with a lego devil.  His collection was rock inspired with slogans like ’smells like teen spirit’ and ‘no fear no tears’ , as well as the union jack. The video, directed by Fabrice Pathier, was in conjunction with his latest collection. Here are a few photos from the none lego people fashion show (spring 2009):

A Kidrobot Christmas

Posted by roxybina on Nov 28, 2008 in awesome, bad ass, cute, vinyl toys

The day after Thanksgiving is when I usually break out all the Christmas crap. We have a 7 ft. tall pink flocked Christmas tree that we decorate with naked Barbies, ostrich feathers, my baby mobile converted to ornaments,  Rhinestone jewelry and of course,  a crown fit for a king (not Burger king!) as the topper! (see below)Yes, it is a truly fupe Christmas tree but I LOVE it! Now I can add a DIY Munny ornament! So cool, for only $13. I can paint it, color it, rhine stone it, deco page it… whatever that suits my mood. For that handsome man in your life, you can get one of these cozy  kidrobot sweaters retailing for $300. A little steep , but well worth the coolness factor.

Visit Kidrobot for more cool stuff.

Kidrobot for the Ladies!

Posted by roxybina on Sep 30, 2008 in jewelry, vinyl toys

Yeah!!!

Tarina Tarantino has designed jewelry featuring Kidrobot  characters like MUNNY, Dunny and Smorkin’ Labbit.  These super cute vinyl toys are laced with ribbons, Swarovski Crystals, beads and pearls creating necklaces, bracelets and earings. As a huge fan of Kidrobot and toys , this is a dream come true! Kidrobot is not for boys anymore! Although, I had made a Be@rbrick necklace a few years ago,  I think I’m gonna save my pennies for one of these. I would wear any of these  with a hoodie and tights and my Broken Label high tops! They say you shouldn’t coordinate your outfit around jewelry or shoes , but I say Fupe It! Now if only they could make Bearbrick jewelry…..

These retail between $65-$975 and are available at kidrobot and Tarina Tarantino boutiques.

Cool stuff from Colette!

Posted by roxybina on Sep 30, 2008 in colette, shoes, vinyl toys

Marc Jacob’s mouse flats celebrate a decade of decadence by collaboration with the artist , Kaws. These lmited edition (only 200 pairs in the world) can be found at Marc Jacobs boutiques, Colette in Paris and OriginalFake in Tokyo. I like them but I prefer the sketched Marc Jacobs mouse flats.  I got them in white. I had to get them because my nickname is  Moosh and  of course, Moosh  means ‘mouse’ or ‘cute’ in Farsi. So it was a purchase of necessity- yeah, that’s it…..

Check out Tomoko Sawada’s exhibition at Colette in Paris November 3-29, 2008. Photos of the artist in the Harajuku style are on display. When I went to Japan for my honeymoon 5 years ago, I knew this look would take a while to catch on in the US. But , I guess it’s starting to trickle over here, finally. I have a few pieces by Shirley Temple Cute and Milk that I have been wearing here in the States and I feel like people don’t understand this look. I guess because it looks childish. But you know what , Fupe them! I love it! By the way, if you like Japanese style and  you’re in Culver City, CA- Check out a cafè called Royal-T.
