Cats: Ilona's Take, lingerie|The text says,
“You won’t be able to stop them (i.e. men), but you can protect yourself. He who created you knows what’s best for you!”
You know, if men are the problem and women the unwilling recipients of a lot of unwelcome attention — and goodness knows this isn’t a shocking notion even to we un-veiled women — why is it that women must hide themselves under everything from headscarves (hijab) all the way to a body-shrouding sack (burkha)?
If it’s men’s attention that’s the problem, why wouldn’t we just blindfold them, and only allow them out in public with a female attendant to guide them?
And lest this be seen as a slam against a particular faith, we mustn’t pretend that other folks don’t have the exact same attitude to women’s sexuality.
Wrap women up from head to toe? Blindfold men? Or maybe, maybe we could begin to expect people (men and women) to have a little self-respect, and to treat everyone else with a modicum of respect in return.
Ooooo… radical.
