BODHI Bags Will Enlighten You
Let’s get off the fall-fashion wagon for a sec and take a detour so I can highlight a cool new handbag line. It’s called BODHI and something about this brand makes me feel warm and happy, like not only have I purchased a great handbag, but I’m putting out positive energy. Why do I feel so new-agey about BODHI? Well, for one thing BODHI means “enlightenment” in Buddhism. Additionally, each bag has an inspiration quote that puts a calming smile on my face whenever I open the bag.
From a design persective, nothing is overlooked. Many of the handbags are handcrafted, and feature fine Italian leather, custom hardware and exotics such as python, alligator, and ostrich in unique color and fabric combinations. I first noticed BODHI in Vegas at the WSA Show in February of this year. Dave, the brands VP, was the perfect representative for the brand – calm, passionate and articulate. Although the bags launched in Fall 2008 with a retail range of $600 to $15,000 for custom pieces (not an easy time for such a price point!), BODHI has already found many fans – myself included – and can be purchased in fine department stores like Fred Segal, Lord & Taylor and Takashimaya. My favorite styles include the vintage-inspired Safety-Pin clutch (very 1950’s quirky and fun) and the Accordion Tote (excellent for travels; I can buy every color and not feel bad anymore traveling with 4+ handbags).
Happy Accessorizing!
