Not So Crazy About Jellies
May 16th, 2008 at 8:16pm
According to eBay, over the past three months sales of “jelly” women’s shoes increased 114%. And the total listings of “jelly” women’s shoes reached 1,021. eBay Style Director Constance White says, “The playful, casual mood of Jellies says “summer” loud and clear. They offer a perfect counterpoint to the riotous color and pattern we’re seeing in clothing. For the weekend or for beachwear, Jellies are in.” I love Constance . If anyone lives up to the “style director” title, it’s her. But, jellies? This city gal just isn’t convinced. Even when I was a tween I didn’t care for them, but at least at that age it was OK to wear them. Grown women the world over, please stay away. I don’t mind the clear Michael Kors version, but I’m still not convinced. And, while we’re on the topic of summer shoes, let’s ban flip-flops from public area. You know, my mother always finds it funny that women wear flip flops on the street, because in Russia she says flip-flops were solely for use in bath houses.
