The Perfect Anything Blazer
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 | Forever 21, jackets, layering | No Comments
We are all well served to have a few great jackets in our closet. There are so very many things you can do with a simple blazer, and turn one piece into something entirely different. Take, for example, this tweed blazer:
So what can we do with this?
- Pair with a simple sheath dress for more formal offices
- Pair with black pants and a basic shell to create a suit
- Couple with jeans and heels and a long strand of pearls for a night out
- Wear it with a skirt and white button down top
And that is just a few of the many things one can do with this blazer. The wonderful thing about the tweed fabric is that it eliminates the concern of having matching black fabrics. The texture of the jacket will make it work with any black pants or skirt because it will hide the fact that the black fabrics are not perfectly matching. Which means this fantastically cheap piece will get a ton of wear!
Geraldine Tweed Blazer at Forever 21, $29.80. Available in sizes S-M. If this does not come in your size, check out all the other fantastic jackets on their site!
Cheap and Cute. Isn’t that all you need to hear?

Yesterday, I ran into Old Navy to return some items I ordered for my sister as Christmas gifts. I decided to do a little run through the store first to check out the jewelry.
And then? I spotted these tanks:
The fantastic rosettes are made from grosgrain ribbon. They add a slight touch of preppiness, but the black color keeps them from being too sweet. These tanks are also extra long, which is critical to me when making a tank top purchase.
For colder weather, pair these with a black cardigan. Or you can stockpile a few to save for spring. My guess is that you will love these tanks long after you purchase them. Here’s to hoping my lucky sister will appreciate the one I bought for her!

A Fantastic Combination

Fall is the season of layering. Sweaters with camis. Cardigan and shell sets. But why layer like everyone else is layering? Allow me to present to a slightly more unconventional brand of layering:
This look is comprised of two pieces. The bottom layer is a silk ruffle top and the top layer is an adorable wrap front sweater.
The great thing about this ensemble is that the ruffled detail on the top eliminates the need for a necklace- it serves as built in jewelry! Both pieces would also be great on their own, or with other layers. For example, you could pair the silk ruffle top with a simple cardigan (which you probably already have in your closet anyway). Or you could pair the wrap sweater with a coordinating turtleneck for cooler days. They can also be dressed up or down, with jeans or dressier pants. So really, you are getting multiple looks with the addition of just two new pieces. And who doesn’t love that?
