While I have a whole load of cardigans (mostly from J. Crew), they are largely in the entirely basic form. No embellishments, no details, no embroidery, no neck-ties:

As it is surely clear from yesterday’s jacket lust, I love neck ties. Overtly feminine without being fussy, they are the perfect addition to something traditionally simple like a cardigan sweater. That is why I love this cardigan from Forever 21. Wear it with a pencil skirt and pumps, fishnets if you dare, and enjoy being a girl without rubbing it in everyone’s face.

The Perfect Anything Blazer

We are all well served to have a few great jackets in our closet. There are so very many things you can do with a simple blazer, and turn one piece into something entirely different. Take, for example, this tweed blazer:

So what can we do with this?
- Pair with a simple sheath dress for more formal offices
- Pair with black pants and a basic shell to create a suit
- Couple with jeans and heels and a long strand of pearls for a night out
- Wear it with a skirt and white button down top
And that is just a few of the many things one can do with this blazer. The wonderful thing about the tweed fabric is that it eliminates the concern of having matching black fabrics. The texture of the jacket will make it work with any black pants or skirt because it will hide the fact that the black fabrics are not perfectly matching. Which means this fantastically cheap piece will get a ton of wear!

It’s no secret around here that I love Forever 21. Sometimes there is no greater thrill in life than scoring a fabulous sweater for $17.80 (seriously- all of their prices end in $0.80??!?!). But even I have to admit, stalking around the brick and mortar store amongst the youth of America can make me feel a bit ridiculous. This is why I try to shop their store online as much as possible. I find that it is wiser to buy tops online, as opposed to dresses or pants, because the sizing is more consistent and easier to predict. Not to mention the fact that the items that are shipped from the online store tend to be in much better condition that those found in store.
I also feel slightly less ridiculous shopping the Twelve by Twelve line, which is at a slightly higher price point, and has slightly more adult pieces. For example, this gorgeous cardigan sweater:

This cashmere blend sweater is slightly more refined that your average Forever 21 find. It is actually made of natural fabrics! The chiffon trim at the neckline is a detail most appreciated by those who have already graduated from high school, and the rhinestone buttons add just enough sparkle without venturing into teeny-bopper territory.
