Wardrobe staples!
Posted by laura on Nov 5, 2008 in Uncategorized
Ok ladies, i thought that i would write a post about what clothes staples every woman should have in their closets, classic useful items that will never go out of style and always serve a purpose when all else fails, and how we can jazz up these sometimes boring items.
Ok here goes…..
- Wrap dress - this will suit any shape, size and age and is extremely flattering providing that you have just the right fit.
- The little black dress, this should be in a classic style so that it will go the distance, you can add some gorgeous accessorises to liven it up or make it a little edger.
- Pencil skirt - a black one can be worn with a shirt for work and with a sexy top for the evening
- A-Line skirt - this will be a little more relaxed and can be teamed with a cute cardigan and flat shoes for a casual look, or with heels to add some sexiness.
- A white shirt - this is a definite staple as it’s so adaptable, this will be smart for work but also looks great with jeans for a smart casual look and you can wear with a waistcoat or tank top over the top.
- Jeans - every woman needs a good pair of jeans to fall back on so it’s worth investing in some more expensive ones, so that you get the fit just right. you should ideally have a pair that can be worn with flats and a pair that can be worn with heels, as one pair won’t do both, when you put your heels on the leg length will rise making them unattractive ankle swingers.
- A white t-shirt for the same reason as the shirt, it’s very adaptable and will go with anything and you can add some colourful jewellery to funk it up.
- Smart Jacket or blazer to wear on formal occasions and with jeans for a smart/casual look.
- Beige (fleshy toned) heels as these will go with anything and will elongate your legs.
- Cardigan - a good quailty one, that will last years.
- Smart/tailored trousers - can be worn for work but also a with a sexy top for the evening, the length should finish at the heels of feet, so if you wear heels most of the time, you will need to try on the trousers with heels before buying to ensure that they are long enough.
- Costume jewellery, the bigger the collection the better, it’s great to play around with and will make a plain outfit look fab in no time!
You can still buy the latest trends and wear them while they last, but be safe in the knowledge that you will always have your staples to fall back on with trends fade, plus you add trend based items to them e.g. with this season’s tartan trend, you could wear a tartan blazer with your pencil skirt etc.
