Design your own dress!

Posted by laura on Oct 30, 2008 in Uncategorized

Have you always fancied yourself as a designer or do you struggle to find you perfect dress? Well ladies, i have found the answer!

If you want to really stand out from the crowd this season, then click on down to www.styleshake.com which is a great little UK website (that ships to the US) where you can design your dress from scratch from the fabric, colour, shape, style right down to the finer details.

And it’s fun to do too, you could spend hours designing then redesigning your dress, and the best thing about it is that it will be truly unique and one of kind.

Ok ladies, here is party dress no. 2.

This elegant little number is $130 from www.topshop.com and is super flattering, the sheer mesh top gives it a sexy but classy feel, showing just a hint of cleavage, and the detailing on it is beautiful, in my opinion this looks like a really expensive dress. If you have slightly larger arms, wear with a little black shrug/bolero with it to slim the arms, add some killer heels and some dangly earrings and your good to go!

I just adore Miu Miu, i only wish that i had enough money to buy the whole collection (ahh.. maybe when i’m a fashion editor for a big glossie?!).

I loved the surreal heels that they did this season, most people either love them or hate them, but i applaud them for daring to steer away from the norm and think that they’re designs are beautiful.

These gorgeous suede peep toe shoes are £350 and available from www.net-a-porter.comand this gorgeous brown ‘Leaf’ leather bag is £650 and also available from net a porter, so that’s a total of £1000 or around $1500….Ummm maybe i need to find myself a sugar daddy? (just don’t tell my husband)!.

Topshop is the top of the shops on the british highstreet and my US readers should be pleased to know that they will be opening a flagship store in Soho very shortly, the date has not been conformed but it’s looking like it will be sometime in November, so not not much longer to wait if you are a New Yorker.

However, in the mean time you can buy online at the newly launched US version of the online store…horray!

You can buy the full range, including the highly coveted, Kate Moss range.

Oscar De La Renta SS09

Posted by laura on Oct 23, 2008 in Uncategorized

Oscar De La Renta uncovered some very interesting swimsuits at his SS09 collection at NY Fashion week.

They were very glam and structured looking, kind of like the power suit of beachwear with an architectural feel. they look like the kind of swimsuit that would make you feel well supported and naturally slimmer thanks to the block colours and patterns in just the right places.

Millitary Procession!

Posted by laura on Oct 21, 2008 in Uncategorized

Keep warm in style this winter ladies, with this gorgeous double breasted military coat $358 from http://usa.frenchconnection.com

The military trend of a few years ago is back again and bigger than before for this season, and this coat really hits the spot.

It also has a real swinging 60’s London look about it, and would look great with skinny jeans tucked into some knee length boots and a baker boy cap.

The new Manolo?

Posted by laura on Oct 20, 2008 in Uncategorized

Rupert Sanderson is the hot new shoe designer on the block,  the London based designer started out his career in advertising before having a change of heart and deciding that he wanted to learn how to make shoes, he then went on to work with Sergio Rossi but now has his own thriving shoe business.

I adore his elegant but funky and up the minute shoes, like these gorgeous soft leather shoeboots.

Worn with black opaque tights, these will really elongate your legs and make you feel like a supermodel.

Available from www.net-a-porter.com priced at £525 yikes!

California Style!

Posted by laura on Oct 16, 2008 in Designers

I have to say that i have so far loved Lauren Conrad’s collection’s, i have just had a browse on her website and fallen in love with pretty much most of it, although i hate to say but i think that some of the dresses would only suit women under the age of about 35, but there are also lots that would cater for pretty much any age. The dresses are super classy and elegant and the kind of peices that you can keep for years.

This wrap top with a shawl collar is one of my favourites, aparently it can be worn many different ways, but i love it like this, i think it’s super stylish, and would suit any age!

It’s priced at $165 but just think of all the wear you will get out of it through the years, i think this will still look stylish in 10 years time!

Getting creative

Posted by laura on Oct 14, 2008 in Uncategorized

Whilst looking through the bags on Net a Porter today I came across this little clutch bag by Marni priced at £400, and was inspired to create my own bag as I figure that you could get a small black clutch bag from a vintage store or Ebay and customise it yourself with say, a huge brooch, the brooch would obviously make a little hole in the bag, but this wouldn’t be visible to anyone else, then I got to thinking that you could add buttons, sequins, ribbons etc and really get creative.

I say that we should all give it a go ladies and be proud of our brilliant creative skills, even if it does end up looking more ‘shabby chic’, and when someone asks you where you got your wonderful bag, you can say that it’s one of a kind!
