Product Trend: Twisted Wood Furniture and Decor

Monday, June 30th, 2008

These natural interior products are not only made out of wood but are also curvy and beautiful. The lamp on the top left hand corner is made in a walnut finish and is elegantly twisted with a bell shaped shade. Click here for link. The candlesticks are from a Swedish company called Impressionen and they carry a lot of beautiful natural looking furniture and décor. The top right image is the Medusa Nest of Tables and not only do I love the name but I love the unique design and functionality. They are from The Conran Shop. The Neema side table below is from Anthropologie and it is made out of an acacia wood which was carved out to create this gorgeous spiraling effect. The last image on the bottom left hand corner is called Weston Twisted Stool or Side Table and it is eco-inspired. If you start out using it as a side table and then you decide to rearrange you can always use it later as a stool. People in search for beautiful natural looking furniture and décor will start to see a lot more products with the curvy wood look.

Hello world!

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

I am so excited to be a part of the WOW blogger team. I would like to introduce myself my name is Rachel Mallon and I am an Interior Designer in Maui, Hawaii. I went to college in Portland, OR and I received my Bachelors degree in Interior Design and I currently work for a small interior design firm Design Savvy Maui. We mainly work on vacation rentals and residential design but have had some commercial clients. I also run my own E-decorating site. I get a lot of people asking me for advice on their residential dwellings and I can quickly and efficiently answer the small questions like what paint color should I choose with this orange sofa or how high should I hang my chandelier above my dining table. I started getting people who wanted me to tell them how to design their entire room and that involved more time and research. So I started Room in a Book. It’s affordable and I create a book that has a furniture board, a floor plan, 2-3 renderings of the space and also a shopping list. Check it out at www.roominabook.com.

Well enough about me and more about this wonderful new blog. It is called dwellings and décor and basically I will be posting the latest in interior design and interior products. Below is the schedule that I am going to be sticking to.

Monday – Product Trend

- This will be a gathering of four photos of products that relate to each other.

Tuesday – Room by Color

- I will present to you interior spaces like blue living rooms and pink bedrooms and go in depth about the mood it evokes.

Wednesday – Decorating Advice

- This is where I will post answers to your decorating dilemmas. We all have them.

Thursday – Inspiration Board

- Also known as a mood board. I find an image that inspires me to create a room and then I design it.

Friday – Interior Spaces/ Styles

- I will showcase a home or a commercial dwelling in its entirety, or I will post interior images of a particular style.

Well I hope you are excited as I am to see how this blog rolls and please subscribe or check back here for more interior design inspiration and ideas.

Aloha!
