Over the past few years, social media sites such as YouTube have gained popularity with children, students, parents, and even more recently…in business. Yes, I did say business. Companies across the globe are finally realizing how their bottom line can benefit from popular (and free) services like You Tube.

Here are a few reasons to use YouTube for your business:

1. Free Advertising.

If you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on fancy video marketing, no problem. Just about anyone can make their own video with a handy cam or web cam and post it on the internet. Mogulette Carmina Perez has a great blog post (with an example) on using video to advertise your business.

2. Geography:

Debby Ducic, owner of GutZy Women LLC, lives somewhere far away from me, yet I feel like I know who and what she represents from her many videos on the internet. She’s not limited by geography when doing business.

3. Create your own buzz marketing stunt:

Remember my post about buzz marketing? See it in action here! When BlendTec wanted to sell more blenders, they simply put an iphone in a blender, made a video, and posted it online. For the cost of the iphone, the video has over 5.5 million views on YouTube. No doubt they’ve sold a blender or two because the blender really can demolish the phone. Imagine what it can do with your veggies!
