Are there certain things at work or at home that make you feel a bit uncomfortable? We all have our moments!

Here are some tips to help you move out of your comfort zone and create a new (stress free!) feeling that will leave you charging out of the gates in the morning!

1. Identify the Problem: Make a list of things that make you uncomfortable and ask yourself why.

Example-
My crazy boss makes me feel uncomfortable whenever I’m around her. I’m afraid she’s always angry with me and will rip into me again, as she had already done on two occasions.

I’m afraid of public speaking because I’m a shy person. I’ve never felt comfortable speaking in front of groups, large or small.

I have this uncomfortable feeling that I could lose my job at any moment. I have both friends and coworker who have been laid off of their jobs in the past few months. I’m afraid I’m next.

2. Create a Solution and Take Action: Solve your issues here and now. Exit the fear zone!

Example-
Crazy boss: Invite her for lunch in a neutral setting, perhaps with another coworker. This will help me get over my fear of her and I’ll be establishing better boss-employee relations in the process.

Public speaking: Enroll in a Toastmasters group to get over my fear. Plan a speaking engagement in two months for a group of five people to ease into a new comfort zone.

Losing my job: Brainstorm ways of making extra money in the evenings or on the side. Try to find something that I would love to do full-time. Put this extra income into a savings account. If I lose my job, I have the extra money AND the skills needed for a new career.
These are just a few examples…Try this exercise and see if it works for you.
