In some ways, Constant Contact has been a nightmare for inboxes world wide. I often think it should be renamed Constant Conflict.

I probably receive about four newsletters per day from people I know as well as from other people I hardly remember meeting. Out of all the newsletters I receive in a month, I probably only read a small handful. Quite frankly, the whole situation is annoying.

There are two types of newsletters: newsletters you welcome to your inbox and newsletters you consider spam.

The spam newsletters I never asked to receive. People somehow received my contact information from me directly or from another source. Just because I hand someone my business card doesn’t mean I want weekly updates on their company and what’s going on. Especially if I have never done business with them and don’t intend to ever do business with them (especially if someone is spamming me with obnoxious email).

I know it’s possible to delete yourself from mailing lists, but it’s a pain and sometimes awkward if you have to call the person yourself. It shouldn’t have to be this way.

The newsletters I have asked to receive, I honestly enjoy reading. I typically like what the company does and like receiving updates on new products or services. Even then, sending out a newsletter once a month is more than enough.

I beg you: Stop sending out WEEKLY newsletters and please ask someone directly before placing them on your mailing list.
