Sex is Back

Kick off your Manolos, ladies, and gear up for more sex, sex, SEX

Kim Catrall has confirmed that there are plans for a Sex and the City: The Movie sequel.

“We will do the sequel next summer,” she revealed on Britain’s The Paul O’Grady Show. “We wanted to the first time, and now we’re hopefully doing it again for the second time. It is difficult getting everybody who’s so incredibly busy all together at the same time.”

New Line Cinema says that the studio is “in negotiations for a sequel,” but it seems like we’ll be seeing the fantabulous four soon!

What do you think? Do you want to see more of the girls or should they quit while they’re ahead?

Rock the Vote

Paula | Paula's Take | Tuesday, 04 November 2008

Election Day is finally here! While it seems like all of Hollywood is backing Barack Obama, there are plenty of McPalin supporters. In the spirit of today, check out my edition of “voting with the stars.”

Republican: Jon Voigt, Angie Harmon, Britney Spears, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Lauren Conrad, Shannen Doherty, Clint Eastwood, Vince Vaughn, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Adam Sandler, The Rock, Lacey Chabert, Jerry Bruckheimer

Democrat: Sarah Jessica Parker, Ben Affleck, Oprah, Brad Pitt, Beyonce, P. Diddy, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kirsten Dunst, Ryan Phillippe, Lindsay Lohan, Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Jon Bon Jovi, Scarlett Johansson

Hmm…by my count, it seems like a tie. Now get out and vote - you still have time!

Tragedy Strikes Jennifer Hudson

Paula | Paula's Take | Friday, 24 October 2008

Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother have been killed in what is believed to be a domestic dispute.

The Oscar winner’s family members were found dead in their Chicago house this afternoon. The cause was determined to be a fatal shooting. Jennifer’s rep has released this statement:

“We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson. No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”

Police are also searching for a missing 7-year-old boy that may be Donerson’s grandson. It is suspected that he was abducted by a man who is on parole after spending seven years in prison for attempted murder.

A neighbor of the victims exclusively tells E! that the Dreamgirl’s sister, Julia, has been having problems with her husband and is thinking of a divorce. The neighbor believes this ongoing trouble is at the root of the shooting.

Jennifer, whose father died when she was a teen, was very close to her mother who encouraged her to try out for American Idol. What horrible, tragic news. Our thoughts are with their family!

Most Valuable Faces

Here’s some interesting news for you.

The king of lists, Forbes, has just released another list - Most Valuable Faces. And forget what Mom said; Forbes ain’t talkin’ about you or me.

The magazine took the liberty of analyzing which celebrity pushed and sold the most magazine covers from June 2007 to June 2008. Likability and appeal also played a factor in the ranking. Read more about the process here

Angelina Jolie once again trumps Jennifer Aniston but I suppose that’s no surprise considering her year (Jen was actually No. 1 last year). Following the two superstars are the late Heath Ledger, Jamie Lynn Spears, Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, Suri Cruise, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, Heidi Montag, and Owen Wilson. Not completely shocking considering a tragic death, teen pregnancy, well-dressed babies, and staged pr moments (ahem, Speidi).

Though Britney Spears landed more covers than anyone (30!), she didn’t even crack the top 10 list. Noticeably absent were also Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Is America finally losing interest in the one time Three Musketeers? Why, it’s the end of an era!

Fashion Rocks Tonight

Paula | Paula's Take | Tuesday, 09 September 2008

Sorry, I have been a bit slow in posting the past week. But, I have a good excuse. I have been working on the Fashion Rocks, a celebration of music and fashion presented by the Conde Nast Media Group (which owns top mags like Vogue, GQ, Glamour, Lucky…).

I was a market assistant, which means I helped call in and prepare all the looks worn by models in the fashion segments of the concert. One big perk of working on this project was watching the dress rehearsal last Friday (they rehearsed merely hours before the taping, which is not live). This year’s line-up included Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Fergie, Mariah Carey, Pussycat DollsKid Rock, One RepublicMary J Blige, among many others!

It was so much fun to watch these soon-to-become-singing-legends rehearse. Beyonce’s voice is just as amazing in real life, Justin is just as cute, and everyone is so much skinnier in person! Here’s a blurry shot I took of Justin and Beyonce’s duet during rehearsal:

A definite highlight of the show was the special rendition of “Stand Up,” a song written for the Stand Up to Cancer benefit. The industry’s best female vocalists turned out to collaborate for this - Mariah, Beyonce, Rihanna, Mary J, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Natasha Bedingfield, Duffy, Miley Cyrus, Ciara, Nicole Scherzinger…

Catch it tonight at 9 pm on CBS. Sorry for the short notice, but I promise you’ll love it!

Wanted: More Drama for 90210

Paula | Paula's Take | Wednesday, 03 September 2008

The CW Network is having a good week so far. Its most hyped shows finally premiered to pretty great ratings - for the CW. Gossip Girl is back, just in time for those experiencing withdrawal symptoms, and reeled in 3.4 million gossip lovers. Best witty line of the night: Damn that motherchucker!

Last night, 90210 also debuted to 5 million viewers, making it the highest-rated scripted show for the network. I suspect the ratings are this high due to the much anticipated reunion of Kelly and Brenda, which didn’t even get enough airtime. Loved seeing good ol’ Nat though!

On the surface, the remake was as glossy as The O.C. (with uglier wardrobes), but definitely lacked some meat that the original Beverly Hills, 90210 had. The storyline was predictable and kinda cheesy. Aside from this, other irksome qualities also presided over the two hours. Maybe it was the fact that high school students don’t talk like mature adults. Or maybe it’s that the new kids from the Midwest are befriended by the popular crowd in a blink of the eye. Or maybe it’s that the modernized Peach Pit lacks the nostalgia I was hoping for. And is it just me, or is rich queen bee Naomi a dead ringer for Jessie from Saved by the Bell?

I’ll give it one more chance next Tuesday, but if it still disappoints, my loyalty goes back to Greek.

Let’s “Dance”

Paula | Paula's Take | Monday, 25 August 2008

Much to my excitement, the new cast of Dancing with the Stars was announced this morning on Good Morning America

The contestants on the seventh season include: Lance Bass, Kim Kardashian, Toni Braxton, Brooke Burke, Susan Lucci, recent Olympic medalist Misty May-Treanor, and the show’s youngest and oldest competitors ever - Cody Linley, 18, and Cloris Leachman, 82.

Honestly, I can’t really see Kim Kardash dancing the foxtrot or the samba or the ballroom…or really anything except simply shakin’ what her mama gave her.

Check out the season premiere Sept. 22 on ABC. Who’s your money on?

One More!

Paula | Celebrity Babies, Paula's Take | Thursday, 21 August 2008

The stork left out one delivery yesterday!

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed their second little bundle of blue joy this afternoon. Just when we thought the baby names were crawling back towards normalcy, baby Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale pops out. He joins older brother Kingston, 2. What a cute family!

Can’t you just see the celeb designer starting a baby clothing line called Zuma?

PS - Guess who Kingston was hanging out with at the park yesterday?

Going for the Gold

Paula | Nicole Kidman, Paula's Take, Victoria Beckham | Tuesday, 19 August 2008

In the spirit of the Olympics, let’s tie in celebrity with the famed games. I’m talking Hollywood celebrity, not Michael Phelps celebrity. Though I wouldn’t mind talking about the men’s swim team, but I digress…

Nicole Kidman called the Australian men’s sailing team to offer words of luck and encouragement before their race, only to be sent to voicemail by the receiver, team member Malcolm Page.

“I ended up returning her call. She was very happy,” Page said. “She was very surprised that we do have a tradition of naming our boats after her movies and she’s just really stoked to be part of a team.”

The Aussie and his partner named their boat The Australian after Nic’s upcoming movie. Previous boats were named Days of Thunder and Dead Calm. Hey, where’s Moulin Rouge? Anyway, the team won gold so seems like the charmed call worked.

David Beckham will make a “surprise” appearance during the closing ceremony festivities this Sunday in Beijing. A special performance will also commemorate the official handover of the Olympics to London for 2012. Leona Lewis is reported to sing a duet with a former Led Zeppelin guitarist. Wonder if there will be a Posh sighting…?

Wedding Bells!

Paula | Paula's Take | Monday, 18 August 2008

Our favorite dancing talk show host Ellen DeGeneres tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi this past weekend in their Beverly Hills home.

Only 19 close friends and family gathered to celebrate the nuptials in an intimate setting. No other celebrities were in attendance. Both brides wore white Zac Posen and exchanged Neil Lane rings.

The couple, together for almost four years, decided to wed after California legalized same sex marriage a few months ago (remember when Ellen got all teary while she announced it on her show?).

Congrats to the happy couple!
