Hollywood is scurrying around, prepping for a night of parties, toasts, and celebration that is New Year’s Eve.
Here in New York, Ryan Seacrest will host the annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square with appearances and performances from Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, Ne-Yo and Jesse McCartney.
On the West Coast, Eva Longoria Parker, DJ A.M., and Travis Barker are toasting 2009 with their celeb pals. Close by in Vegas, new parents Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz will party it up, while Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will no doubt be doing more tequila shots further down the strip.
Across the country, Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Sam Ronson will host a bash in South Beach. And finally, ultimate party gal Paris Hilton is celebrating in the land Down Under with sis Nicky.
Jennifer Aniston and BFF Courteney Cox Arquette prefer a low-key vacation to ring in the new year, arriving in Cabo San Lucas. And guess what? John Mayer is staying down the road. Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, and baby Harlow are also lounging on the beaches of Hawaii to celebrate the holiday.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays, dear readers!
It’s been awhile since we’ve been on break-up watch, but one couple has just made it on the radar.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are fighting off rumors of a split, which have been escalating since J. Lo showed up at a film premiere earlier this month sans husband and ring (image to the left).
The pair, parents of 10-month-old twins, renewed their vows just three months ago, but sources say that their union has been on the rocks since then. An anonymous friend also reveals that the couple will announce their separation on Valentine’s Day after a surprise duet at Marc’s New York City concert. Hmm, irony is not lost on them.
However, for now, this story is not true according to Jen’s rep. Only time will tell.

The season finale of The Hills last night was chockful of tête-à-têtes, sweet moments and other unexpected elements.
In a nutshell? Lauren and Heidi hug and sort of make up, Justin Bobby gives Audrina a diamond promise ring, Speidi’s marriage is not legalized because in a brief moment of clarity, Spencer wants to fulfill Heidi’s wish of a proper wedding. Phew!
At the live aftershow in NYC (where this pic is from), the entire cast was on hand to reminisce back on a season of major drama, though a newly reunited Lauren and Heidi did not appear together. Speidi even downed tequila shots on-air to share how their elopement was induced. Great stuff, really.
The cult “reality” show returns in the spring while Whitney Port’s spinoff The City debuts next Monday on MTV.

Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren finally threw an overdue wedding reception this weekend.
According to UsWeekly.com, they had closest friends and family over at their Beverly Hills home for a celebration on Friday night.
“There were no tears,” a partygoer told the website, “just lots of happiness and love. It felt extremely special for everyone.”
The only emotional moment came when Cash gave a speech expressing his love and pride of Jessica and Honor. Mom and daughter wore matching gray dresses, while Honor’s frock was decorated with angel wings. Aww!
They quietly married earlier this year in May in an L.A. courthouse, one month before the arrival of their baby girl, Honor Marie.

While Paris Hilton spent last night celebrating Christina Aguilera’s birthday (didn’t know they were pals), a burglar broke into her Hollywood Hills home early this morning and stole about $2 million worth of jewelry and other things.
“As far as we know, the man ransacked the bedroom, took unknown property and fled,” LAPD said.
Hopefully, “unknown property” does not include sex tapes and the like.
Paris was not home at the time (it was 5 a.m.), and a security guard reported the forced entry to the police. They now have a suspect after reviewing a security camera.
This is not the first time her home’s been broken into. Girl, get a better security system!
As the year comes to a close, it is only natural to look back and reminisce. Here is my recap of the memories, scandals, hook-ups, break-ups, babies, and more.

Select members of the Screen Actors Guild are threatening to strike if no contract deal is reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and TV Producers, which represents the major studios in Hollywood.
Mel Gibson, Sandra Oh, and Jerry O’Connell lead the small list of actors who will support a strike come January (also awards season). However, the opposition stands much greater.
Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Garner, and Matt Damon are just a few of the big names who have signed a petition against the strike.
“We feel very strongly that SAG members should not vote to authorize a strike at this time,” it read. ”We support our union and we support the issues we’re fighting for, but we do not believe in all good conscience that now is the time to be putting people out of work.”
I agree. This is déjà vu of the writers’ strike earlier this year…we don’t want anymore of our favorite TV shows and movies to be stalled!

What the tabloids are reporting this week…
The late Heath Ledger garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in his haunting turn as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, this achievement is overshadowed by drama over who will accept the award if he wins. According to the NY Daily News, Heath’s father would like the honor while the studio would like Michele Williams to receive it on behalf of their 3-year-old daughter, Matilda. Wouldn’t it just be more logical for the director or even Christian Bale to accept it?
If Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer didn’t get back together in time for her film premiere, we would have seen her with another dashing gentleman. The New York Post’s Page Six is reporting that while the couple was off, Jen’s people were recruiting men to accompany her so she wouldn’t have to appear single while promoting her Marley & Me - which happens to coincide with the opening date of Brad Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
It turns out Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were kinda wasted when they eloped a few weeks ago. Watch tonight’s episode of The Hills to witness their vows. Check out an exclusive video at UsWeekly, but be forewarned about the “ick” factor.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie have reached a divorce settlement. Her rep confirms that Madge will pay her ex-husband a hefty sum between $76 million and $96 million, which includes the value of a English country home and their London pub. Yowza. They are still negotiating custodial arrangements for their children.

Jennifer Aniston premiered her new flick Marley & Me last night with costar Owen Wilson by her side, but guess which lucky guy took her home. None other than on-again John Mayer.
The rocker showed his support at the big event and even joked about his girlfriend’s smokin’ hot new GQ cover.
“If I have a problem with that cover, I should just pack up the Toyota and head out of town,” John told UsWeekly. I’m just gonna get ready to put my knuckles in the air for it.”
The good girl actress shows off a sexy new side as she bares almost all for the spread, though she insists she “wasn’t trying to make any statement.”
In the interview, which is a lighthearted departure from her recent Vogue sit-down, Jen jokes about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
“The funny thing is, people don’t realize we all go away to the Hamptons on the weekends,” she laughs. “That’d be hysterical: I’ve got Zahara on my hip, and Knox …”
Erm, that might be awkward even though the former husband and wife do occasionally talk. But for now, she only has eyes and heart for John.
Hey Jen, if it doesn’t work out with you and John, you and Owen make a pretty darn cute couple too!
Seattle Grace just got a little less crowded.
T.R. Knight has asked producers of his hit show Grey’s Anatomy to write his character George O’Malley out of the show. It is reported that he has been unhappy and frustrated with his character’s storyline, which if you have been watching recently, you will agree with him. Insiders say that he will likely be released early from his contract, which still has three more years, but nothing is official yet.
Grey’s Anatomy has seen its fair share of controversy and drama since Isaiah Washington called T.R. a homophobic slur and was subsequently dismissed. A source close to T.R. says that that incident has nothing to do with his desire to leave. The actor’s good friend Katherine Heigl has also been outspoken about her alter ego’s plot, which was rectified this season. Last month, Dr. Erica Hahn, played by Brooke Smith, was abrubtly let off the show. Geez, at this rate, who’s next?
T.R., if there’s a chance you are reading this…please don’t leave!!
