Quote of the Week

Paula | Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton | Thursday, 31 July 2008

The week isn’t over yet (one more day!), but here is the quote of the week y’all:

“If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God; and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don’t seem to have much of an issue.” - LAPD Chief William Bratton in regards to John Mayer’s proposal for regulation against the imposing paparazzi.

Ahem, someone not liking the attention they’ve been getting since Jen Aniston…?

How to Lose a Guy

Paula | Couples Watch, Kate Hudson | Wednesday, 30 July 2008

If you believe UsWeekly, Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have gone to Splitsville.

After an intense two month courtship which involved dinners in Austin, make-out sessions on the tennis court, and lunch with Goldie, seems like the fun is over.

The reason is still unclear and differs depending on who you believe. An insider tells Us that the relationship just played its course: ”There was no drama or ugliness - they just decided to end things. There is no hatred, just sadness.”

Meanwhile, the gossipy New York Post says that the “couple’s constant bickering and their travel schedules drove them apart” and eventually led to a “big blowout.”

Well, whatever, I was rooting for Owen Wilson anyways.

Yay for the Sisterhood!

Paula | Blake Lively, Paula's Take | Tuesday, 29 July 2008

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. The sequel premiered in New York City last night (my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail), and the girls looked a-mazing.

Blake Lively made like a summer goddess in her flowy tangerine Gucci dress, while America Ferrera channeled her inner Latina va va voom in her bold blue Brian Reyes frock - check out those smoldering eyes! Alexis Bledel looked all grown up in her chic and polished ribbon trim dress (love the bright lip), but Amber Tamblyn opted to forgo the style and rock a navy jumpsuit.

Blake’s Gossip costars, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick all showed up to support her, while boyfriend Penn Badgley didn’t walk the red carpet, but was seen signing autographs for fans.

Who wasn’t so welcome? Reportedly, Dina and Ali Lohan were asked to leave the after-party when the momager refused to leave a reserved table. Dina claims she decided to leave because the staffer who asked her to move raised his voice and made the girls “uncomfortable.” Hmm..

Juicy Weekend Tidbits

Paula | Angelina Jolie, Celebrity Babies | Monday, 28 July 2008

Hello, friends. Here’s what you missed while you were sunbathing this weekend:

Shia LaBeouf was arrested for a DUI after his pick-up truck collided into another vehicle late Saturday night (check out the damage below). He sustained several injuries to his head, hand, and knee, though his mother tells E! News that the actor is doing “fine.” Uh, Shi? That little stunt you pulled is so last year.

“The Dark Knight” has shattered another record. The blockbuster, starring the late Heath Ledger, pulled in almost $76 million this weekend. This brings its total gross thus far way past the $300 million mark after only 10 days in theaters, surpassing the record of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”

Adorable couple Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell are expecting double bundles of joy this winter. After announcing that they were trying to get pregnant just last week, sources say that the couple conceived without the help of in vitro and are expecting two girls (if this is true, then they must have known they were pregnant last week). Congrats!

Matt Damon and his wife are also expecting their second daughter together. Looks like Jen and Ben’s unborn (and unconfirmed) baby already has a BFF!

As if we thought Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt weren’t luck enough, their godfather is Bono.

Sex in the City

Paula | Paula's Take | Friday, 25 July 2008

The latest celebrity couple to fall victim to the rampant and oft-vicious rumor mill is Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick

According to various reports, led by Star magazine, Matthew Broderick (!) cheated on his wife of 11 years - and the mother of his child - while she was filming “Sex and the City: The Movie” last year. The other woman? A 25-year-old redhead youth counselor. Ouch.

The mismatched duo reportedly met at a bar and after a text message courtship, says a source, rendezvous-ed at friends’ townhouses and the mistress’s apartment.

Ready to squirm a little? The redhead’s nickname for Matthew was “Matty Cakes.” Eww.

We’ll have to wait to see how this unfolds, but I’m on Team SJP.

Check Out Her…

…dance moves? Possibly!

According to the New York Daily News, Kim Kardashian is slated to be a contestant on next season’s Dancing with the Stars. Former Mirror Ball Trophy winner Helio Castroneves was overheard backstage at the ESPY Awards sharing the news that the bootylicious reality star will be joining the dance revolution. I’m not sure if I see that happening, but for the record, Kim told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that she “would be honored if the asked me.” I guess we will have to wait until next month to find out, when the new cast is revealed by ABC.

Speaking of DWTS (sorta), season three contestant Shanna Moakler has some sort of bone to pick with Miss Kardash. At a party hosted by pal Carmen Electra last weekend, Shanna went over to Kim and after saying a few words, threw her drink at her. Kim is unsure why that all went down, but thinks it may be because she modeled for the clothing line of Shanna’s ex-husband, Travis Barker, over a year ago, fueling rumors of a past hook-up. Jealous, much?

What a Tease

Paula | Paula's Take | Wednesday, 23 July 2008

As if your summer needed any more heat, these new Gossip Girl posters hit the web. The ad campaign for the CW series bear warnings like “Mind-Blowingly Inappropriate” and “Very Bad For You” (btw, taken from critic’s reviews). All this for a show on a family-friendly network. Tsk tsk.

Quiet scandalous, suggestive, and sensational for a bunch of high-schoolers, but then again, have you seen the show? I would say the posters accurately capture the series. Pretty brilliant, actually.

I’m counting down until September 1st.

Something’s Cooking!

Paula | Jennifer Garner | Monday, 21 July 2008

I am reporting for bump watch duty! Up until now, I was skeptical in posting about the is-she-or-isn’t-she bump. I mean, you never know. It really could be a bag angle or a loose blouse. But after seeing these pics, I think it’s safe to see Jennifer Garner is preggers with child #2.

Here’s my fave Hollywood couple house hunting in LA this weekend (I always had a soft spot for Ben Affleck). They better hurry and settle in before their family expands!

Britney Gets More Mommy Time

Paula | Britney Spears | Friday, 18 July 2008

It’s settled: Kevin Federline was awarded sole custody of Sean Preston and Jayden. He and ex-wife Britney Spears have finally reached an agreement after a seemingly never-ending court battle.

Perhaps this doesn’t come as a surprise. Brit went from the princess of pop to the punchline of pop culture in a matter of shaved heads, British accents, and swingin’ umbrellas. Oh yeah, and did I mention mental breakdown?

But the mom will still play a big part in her sons’ lives. She is allowed three visits and two overnights per week. As her health improves, she may get the chance for more custody rights.

According to Brit’s attorney, “she is very pleased” with the settlement because it grants her more time with her sons. She was also reportedly ordered to pay Kevin $20,000 a month in child support, an increase from the previous amount of $15,000.

With one less thing to worry about, Britney can focus more on her rebound career. After all, the media loves nothing more than to build someone up, bring them down, and help them up again. We’re rooting for ya, Brit Brit!

TV Talk

Paula | Katherine Heigl, Katie Holmes | Wednesday, 16 July 2008

UPDATE: According to the president of ABC, Katherine Heigl is “absolutely staying” on Grey’s Anatomy despite her recent shenanigans and rumors. So, rest assured fans, there will be no fallout (yet).

Perhaps to keep Ms. Heigl’s pretty pucker shut, ABC counters her I-wasn’t-given-good-material-to-deserve-an-Emmy-nod with this statement: “There’s an unbelievable storyline for her which is really central to everything that is going to on this season.” Hmm, does Izzie do something with the clinic Bailey put her in charge of? Does she have to decide between George and Alex? Do they kill her off with a brain tumor?? Tune in for the season premiere on Sept. 25.

Meanwhile, in other TV news…

Katie Holmes is doing a guest spot on ABC’s legal dramedy Eli Stone. The exec producer of the show worked with Katie during her Dawson’s Creek days (ahh those were the good ol’ days), and in his words “begged her” to do it. See if it’s any good on October 21st.

Wilmer Valderrama just announced that he is producing a comedy about what Young Hollywood is really like. Baby Dolls will be from the perspective of a female personal assistant to a celebrity and will be like hit show The Office. If you want to see Wilmer in front of the camera, the That 70’s Show actor will star in Fox’s new comedy The Emancipation of Ernesto

Now, while I love summer and am already dreading Labor Day to roll around, a tiny part of me is excited for fall because: 1) Gossip Girl is back on Sept 1, 2) 90210 premieres a night later, 3) Private Practice finally returns Oct 1, 4) apple picking!

Hey, a girl’s gotta look forward to something. Tell me, what shows are you excited for?
